After-School Performing Arts Program
Our After-School Performing Arts program is open to students in 1st through 5th grade. The program includes transportation from Adum Magnet, Mabry Elementary, Mitchell Elementary, and Roosevelt Elementary, daily academic support, and performing arts classes providing instruction in acting, singing and dancing prior to 6:00pm. The application process begins in February of each year. Please complete on-line registration to be placed on the waiting list. No deposit is required.
Acting for Musical Theatre IA
This class open to students in 1st through 3rd grade. It is a great blend of performance and exploration centered around the exciting world of musical theatre. Students will get to flex their acting and singing muscles all while taking on challenging scenes from some of the most popular and beloved musicals. Solo and ensemble work will be a large component of this class, as well as helping students find a better understanding of musical theatre structure and audition techniques. This a great class for those interested in our Main Stage JR theatre program!

Acting Improv I
This class is for students in 1st through 5th grade. So much of what we do as performers isn't based on words or choreography but our own instincts. This Improv class helps students learn how to work together, hone their own instincts and provides an amazing outlet for all their energy and imagination. Through guided exercises, students will develop their own 30-minute show that is so new it hasn't been written yet!
Broadway Dance
This class is open to students in 1st through 5th grade. Musical theatre uses song and dance to tell stories. Just like the lines actors speak and the lyrics they sing, the dancing is also an extension of the plot. This differentiates Broadway choreography from other forms, making it a unique and exciting part of an actor's repertoire. This class will stretch those movement muscles, helping students communicate character and story through dance. Each student's individual strengths will shine in a showcase at the end of the semester.
Comedic Acting
This class is for students in 1st through 5th grade. Students will get a chance to move those funny bones. We will explore different comedy styles and "rules" for the stage and work on scenes which utilize new skills like timing, delivery, joke structure and more. The class will culminate in a showcase that is sure to make you laugh out loud.
Main Stage JR Production (Cast A)
This class will solely focus on the Spring semester's Main Stage JR Production and is open to students in 1st through 5th grade. All students in this class are required to enroll in a second acting class as a supplemental component. Students will rehearse and craft the show in a semi-professional atmosphere, while learning the importance of ensemble, responsibility, professionalism, and community as it relates to all areas of theatre. Students are required to attend all rehearsals including tech week and shows. Students and parents will sign a contract committing fully to the class once casting is set. Please note this class meets twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:45-5:00pm. **Director's approval needed prior to registering for this program.**
Main Stage JR Production (Cast B)
This class will solely focus on the Spring semester's Main Stage JR Production and is open to students in 1st through 5th grade. All students in this class are required to enroll in a second acting class as a supplemental component. Students will rehearse and craft the show in a semi-professional atmosphere, while learning the importance of ensemble, responsibility, professionalism, and community as it relates to all areas of theatre. Students are required to attend all rehearsals including tech week and shows. Students and parents will sign a contract committing fully to the class once casting is set. Please note this class meets twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:15-5:30pm. **Director's approval needed prior to registering for this program.**

All students in this class are required to enroll in a second acting class as a supplemental component. Students will rehearse and craft the show in a semi-professional atmosphere, while learning the importance of ensemble, responsibility, professionalism, and community as it relates to all areas of theatre. Students are required to attend all rehearsals including tech week and shows. Students and parents will sign a contract committing fully to the class once casting is set. Please note this class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays 5:00-6:15pm, and select Fridays 5:00-6:00pm for small group rehearsals. **Director's approval needed prior to registering for this program.**
Dance Technique
This class is designed for students from 6th to 8th grade and builds strong foundational skills in various techniques. Students will learn proper alignment, flexibility, musicality, and coordination while exploring choreography and developing confidence. Perfect for dancers of all levels who want to grow, move, and express themselves.
Performance Dance I
This performance-based dance class is for students in 1st-4th grade. Students work with various choreographers, diverse types of instruction, and different dance styles to become versatile dancers. Students advance faster due to more focused training and gain more confidence. These students also have the opportunity to perform in our local community in October, February, and April.

With a challenging mix of choreography and singing, students will work to create a pop vocal ensemble that is ready for the stage! These students have the opportunity to perform in the community in February and April.

Playmaking I
This class is open to all students in 1st through 5th grade. Students will work together to create a brand-new short play. They will begin by learning basic theatrical storytelling through games and activities. Students will then develop their own characters and include them in a clear, fun, and totally unique story to be presented at our Annual Play Festival at the end of the semester.
Shakespeare I
This class is open to students in 1st through 5th grade. Get ready to play with some of the most iconic characters and stories in all of theatre history! Students will bring the classics to life, learning some of The Bard's most beloved stories through improv, movement, and scene work. This is the perfect introduction for young actors looking for a fun, new challenge!
Shakespeare II
This class is open to students in 6th through 8th grade. Take the fear out of Shakespeare! Students will learn how to make sense of the text and connect with stories that still resonate today. This class will focus on scene work, allowing actors to explore character through movement, voice, and ensemble activities. Learn to love The Bard and have fun doing it!
Technical Theatre I
This class is open to students in 1st through 5th grade. This class will focus on the off-stage aspects of theatre production. Students will learn about the numerous roles required to create theatre magic, including design and backstage management. Students will gain skills in set design, stage management, and running crew. The class will culminate in a presentation of the students' strongest designs and skills.

Tangled
JUNE 1-5 Discover the magical world of Tangled through singing, dancing, and acting! Find the lost princess, fight alongside Flynn Ryder and his pals, and dance in the kingdom of Corona during this week of camp. Students will sing and dance along to their favorite songs, including "I Have a Dream" and "I See the Light" as well as act out some of the action-packed scenes from the hit film! This week is sure to have your camper living their dreams!
Shrek
JUNE 8-12 Join a colorful cast of fairytale creatures and everyone's favorite ogre for the swampiest story of the summer! Based on the beloved film and Broadway musical, campers will have a blast bringing their favorite characters to life with iconic production numbers from the musical and the movie alike. Yes, "I'm a Believer" will be stuck in your head the whole week. With dragon-slaying, princess-saving, and tons of fun with friends, this camp is sure to be the perfect place for your camper to let their freak flag fly!
Mary Poppins
JUNE 15-19 Everyone's favorite magical nanny lands at STCFTA this week! Campers will explore an abridged version of the iconic show and film, Mary Poppins. This week, students will act, sing, and dance along to the beloved classics "Step in Time" and "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious", among others. This camp will end in a performance that is guaranteed to be practically perfect in every way!
Movie Musical Montage
JUNE 22-26 Zombies, werewolves, vampires, daywalkers, villian kids, beach aficionados, and camp rockers assemble! Campers will act, sing, and dance along to some of their favorite songs from their favorite movies, including Zombies 4, Descendants, Teen Beach Movie, Camp Rock, and more! Find your favorite character and come join the fun!
K-Pop Demon Hunters (3-day camp due to holiday)
JUNE 29-JULY 1 Find the power in your voice this week as we sing and dance along to the music of the hit film K-Pop Demon Hunters! In this 3-day camp, campers will perform iconic hits such as "Golden" and "How it's Done", putting their singing and dancing skills on full display. Just like our full week camps, this camp will end in a performance that will surely have everyone on their feet!
Celebrating Wicked
JULY 6-10 Sing, dance, and celebrate the musical sensation that is Wicked during this spellbinding week of camp! Campers will explore the music and choreography from both acts fo the musical, including "Popular", "No Good Deeds", and "For Good". Defy gravity and discover your potential during this popular week of camp!
Broadway Revue
JULY 13-17 Get ready to set your sights on the stage, we're going to Broadway! This session will allow your camper to sing and dance like the pros with iconic songs from recent Broadway hits. Campers will explore select songs from SIX, Hadestown, Hamilton, and more, combining musical harmonies and dance moves that everyone can learn! Join in the fun during STCFTA's Musical Cabaret!
Newsies
JULY 20-24 Get ready to seize the day this week as we travel back to 1899 for the hit musical Newsies! Campers will be hawking headlines (and singing and dancing) as we tell the story of an incredible group of kids who banded together to fight for what is right. The week will conclude with a performance that is sure to be memorable. Join us as campers become the kings of New York!
80s The Musical
JULY 27-31 End the summer with this radical original show that is sure to get your camper moving and grooving! Featuring a story that pays homage to iconic 80s media, this show will transport campers back in time to the tunes of Footloose, Xanadu, and your favorite 80s pop hits. Students will deliver a performance that is sure to be totally tubular!
